Project Overview.

Zoe Law is one of the UK’s most renowned photographers, gaining industry acclaim through her stunning black & white portraiture. To help promote her iconic ‘Legends’ series that celebrated modern day British icons, Lava was approached to bring to life the National Portrait Gallery’s exhibition of her work, in an immersive experience that could be viewed by an online audience. With COVID interrupting what would have been an exciting new exhibition at the Gallery, our challenge was to recreate the exhibition in an elevated and exciting way.

Design & Creative Development.

We wanted to give the at-home audience a taste of what the exhibition would have felt like to explore, which meant recreating an exact replica of the gallery room in 3D. The viewer would be taken on an immersive journey into the space, where working in 3D gives us the freedom to change and manipulate the space, with the environment transforming into an ethereal space where the portraits took centre stage. The image descriptions on the wall in the gallery were brought to life with an audio narration voiced by Zoe Law herself.

Web Design.

The exhibition, no longer able to reach an in-person audience, needed an online destination to house not just the immersive experience, but to provide additional narrative around the origins of the works.
